Appropriately named, the Challenge at Manele is a Jack Nicklaus-designed target-style course playing across acres of natural lava outcroppings among Kiawe and wild Llima trees. Every hole on the course offers fabulous ocean views, with many tee shots requiring golfers to cross a mini-canyon to get to the open fairways. Defining the course is its signature 202-yard par-3 No. 12, which requires players tee off from a cliff over the ocean to a green located on another cliff.
